The White House TV drama series, Scandal, is being bumped up to 9/8c on Thursdays. (That’s an hour later, a presumably more scandalous time.) To promote Season 4, which premieres September 25, ABC released a photo of the cast wearing their black-tie best. Fans presume everyone is dressed up for the President Fitzgerald Grant’s second inaugural ball.
Looking for juicer plot clues, TV Guide points out that everyone in the photo is looking at the camera except for Mellie (Bellamy Young) and David (Joshua Malina). First Lady Mellie is giving the eye to her husband Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) while David is gazing at Olivia (Kerry Washington) or Jake (Scott Foley). If you can’t figure it out, don’t worry, you’re not alone. Most TV critics give Scandal favorable reviews although they admit to not knowing what the show is. “I’m also not entirely sure that it matters,” wrote Alan Sepinwall of HitFix. “’Scandal’ is a good example of what a show is about being far less important than how it’s about it.’”
ABC’s “Scandal” stars Bellamy Young as First Lady Mellie Grant, Darby Stanchfield as Abby Whelan, Jeff Perry as Cyrus, Tony Goldwyn as President Fitzgerald Grant, Kerry Washington as Olivia Pope, Scott Foley as Jake Ballard, Joshua Malina as David Rosen, Guillermo Diaz as Huck and Katie Lowes as Quinn Perkins.
