Saturday Night Live will kick off its 40th anniversary season on September 27. Chris Pratt of Guardians of the Galaxy will host and Ariana Grande (My Everything) will be the musical guest. It’ll be the first episode without iconic announcer Don Pardo. SNL fans hope former cast member Darrell Hammond (aka Bill Clinton, Sean Connery, Donald Trump) will replace him. Hammond recently told Grantland that he would be “honored and thrilled” to take over Pardo’s duties.
It’s been three years since Hammond’s made an appearance on SNL. Since then, he’s appeared on a season of the TBS sitcom Are We There Yet? starring Terry Crews (who’s now co-starring with Andy Samberg on Brooklyn Nine-Nine). Hammond had a role in last year’s Scary Movie 5 (as did fellow, former SNL player Molly Shannon), but Saturday night misses his velvety voice.
