Beam me up, Selfie? Several cast members from Star Trek: The Next Generation got together yesterday and did what every celebrity seems to want to do these days–hold a smartphone at arm’s length and take a photo of themselves in a moment of simultaneous oblivious narcissism and self-aware irony. “Look at us! We’re cool and photogenic and famous (well, some of us are anyway), but we’re also just like you mere mortals; we dress sloppily and have wrinkles.”
The photo was taken and tweeted by LeVar Burton at the Wizard World Chicago Comic-Con. In the photo are Patrick Stewart, Brent Spiner, LeVar Burton, Jonathan Frakes, Marina Sirtis, Gates McFadden, and Michael Dorn (well, about an eighth of Michael Dorn’s face is visible: Worf would not be happy). Also in the shot is the original captain of the Enterprise, the notoriously reclusive and publicity-shy William Shatner.
