Friends star David Schwimmer is directing the off-Broadway play Sex With Strangers. The two-character production stars Billy Magnussen (of the soon to be released Into the Woods film) as a bestselling sex memoirist named Ethan who gets to meet his idol, the literary novelist Olivia played by Anna Gunn (‘Skyler White’ in Breaking Bad).
Sex With Strangers, which Schwimmer describes as “dark, sexy, funny,” premiered in 2011 at Steppenwolf Theater in Chicago. Schwimmer told the New York Times that “it never quite delivered on the promise” of Laura Eason’s strong writing. (Eason is a staff writer on season two of the Netflix show House of Cards). So the company did some fine-tuning before heading to the Tony Kiser Theater in Manhattan.
