MTV used its Snapchat account today to release the 2014 nominees for the Video Music Awards (VMAs). Although the popular boy band One Direction ranks #1 on the 2014 Top 100 Worldwide Tours list, they didn’t make the list this year…not in a single category. Fans of Harry Styles and the boys are threating (via Twitter) to boycott the award show (unless they’re added to the list, which never happens). The awards show to be held at The Forum in Inglewood, CA, where a crowd of 17,500 will be entertained by the likes of Beyonce who leads the nominees with eight nomations.
It was just two years ago when 1D took home best new artist, best pop video and most share-worthy video (“What Makes You Beautiful”). So, who will win this year? The 2014 “Video of the Year” will likely go to either Pharrell Williams for his crowd pleasing “Happy” or Miley Cyrus for her provocative “Wrecking Ball.” Don’t worry, 1D fans–One Direction will continue to work hard for your love. The night of the VMAs, they’ll be performing onstage in Dallas to a crowd of 80,000 at Dallas’ AT&T Stadium.
