New York curator Steven Sacks, founder of bitforms gallery, has curated an exhibition that helps us see the unexpected in data, “to gain a sense for its cultural meaning, and make the otherwise abstract into an emotional experience.” The exhibiton, //the_ART_of_DATA, features the work of nine digital/electronic artists and is currently on view at the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art (BMOCA) until July 6, 2014.
Among the artists featured is Casey Reas, who while a graduate student at MIT media Lab developed software and electronics as an artistic exploration; John F. Simon Jr. who writes digital software to create visual imagery that is generated in real time on LCD screens; sound artist/composer Tristan Perich and Rafael Lozano-Hemmer who uses robotics and computerized surveillance for his installations that require public participation.
