Before launching her global fashion empire and becoming a Hollywood movie star (The Dukes of Hazzard, Employee of the Month), Jessica Simpson was a reality TV star. She starred in the MTV series Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica, with her then-husband, former boy band singer Nick Lachey (98 Degrees). The show aired from 2003-2005.
Two years later, E! Network launched another celebrity family reality TV series, Keeping Up with the Kardashians, which followed the daily lives of the Kardashian-Jenner family, including siblings Kourtney, Kim, Khloé, and Rob Kardashian, as well as their half-sisters Kendall and Kylie Jenner, and their mother Kris Jenner.
Kim Kardashian has gone on to launch the underwear company SKIMS, and Khloe Kardashian has launched the clothing label, Good American.
One might assume that a fan of Jessica Simpson might be a fan of the Kardashians, since they have a lot in common, but that assumption would be a dangerous one to make based on the backlash Simpson is receiving after posting the neon green string bikini photo above.
The hot pink platform sandals are by Simpson’s company but the swimsuit is by Kardashian’s SKIMS.
More than one follower voiced their dismay and confusion over the collaboration. As one wrote; “I love you Jessica but I can’t support Skims or The Kardashians.” Another asked: “you have your own line. Why would you support (the) Kardashians?” Above and below are photos of Simpson modeling her own swimsuits.
Another fan offered a defense for Simpson: “Her child is friends with North West. She is supporting another fellow mom.” Alas, that last comment has received the least likes of the comments so far.
