The protagonist of the 2012 movie House at the End of the Street is teenager Elissa Cassidy, who is portrayed by Jennifer Lawrence, who won the 2013 Best Actress Oscar for Silver Linings Playbook just one year later. [More Lifetime movies streaming are always available.]
In the film, Elissa and her newly divorced mother Sarah (Oscar nominee Elisabeth Shue, Leaving Las Vegas) are excited to move to a small rural town but when they settle into their new house, they discover the town is “in the shadows of a chilling secret.”
Elissa falls for the boy next door, Ryan (Max Thieriot, SEAL Team, Bates Motel) who survived a family tragedy and has a lot of skeletons in the closet, literally.
In the film (and trailer above), Elissa sings the song “All You’ve Got to Do Is Fall In Love” although that’s not Lawrence singing. She is lip syncing: the voice belongs to singer Sarah Rayne. Variety reported that Lawrence did sing for the film, but it was decided that Rayne’s “sound fit the scene and character better.”
Fun fact: Rayne was the voice of Sid’s little sister Hannah in the original Toy Story and now, as an adult, she’s in the L.A. band Cobra Man.
Lifetime is airing House at the End of the Street on Monday, November 25 at 8 pm. [BONUS: Stream any Lifetime show anytime through the Lifetime Live On Demand TV app here. Download is FREE.]
