The new family sitcom mixed-ish is narrated by Blackish character Bow Johnson (Tracee Ellis Ross). She tells her story of what it was like growing up in a mixed-face family in 1985. She was raised in a cult/commune with her white father Paul (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) and her black mother Alicia (Tika Sumpter) who accept the financial help of Paul’s father when they’re forced to leave the commune and move to the suburbs.
Paul’s father, Harrison Jackson III, is portrayed by Gary Cole, who describes his character as a lawyer “and not the good kind” and “a devout capitalist.”.Cole says “he basically, in the show, represents ignorance.”
Harrison Johnson is portrayed by Gary Cole. He’s known for his roles on The Good Wife and The Good Fight (Kurt McVeigh), Veep (Kent Davison), Fam (deadbeat dad Freddy), Chicago Fire (Chief Grissom), Suits (Cameron Dennis), Entourage (Andrew Klein), The West Wing (VP Bob Russell), Midnight Caller (Jay “Nighthawk” Killan).
Cole is also well known for work in films including Pineapple Express (Ted Jones), Dodgeball (Cotton McKnight) and Office Space (boss Bill Lumbergh), among many others.
Cole even played Mike Brady with Shelly Long in the Brady Bunch movies!
Mixed-ish airs Tuesdays at 9 pm on ABC, right after Bless This Mess at 8:30 pm, and right before black-ish at 9:30 pm.
