Oscar-nominated actor Eric Roberts (Runaway Train) reprises his role as demented Dr. Albert Beck in the 2019 Lifetime movie Stalked by My Doctor: A Sleepwalker’s Nightmare. Dr. Albert is up to no good once again as he assumes the identity of Dr. Tanner who works at a sleep clinic.
As Dr. Tanner, Albert falls hard for his first patient, a gorgeous blonde named Michelle (Emilie Ullerup), who suffers from sexsomnia aka “sleep sex.” Although Michelle appears to be fully awake, she has no recollection of the sexual behavior she exhibits while sleeping. Dr. Beck/Tanner takes advantage of Michelle, sexually. And that’s just one of his patients! When Katie , a younger but equally gorgeous blond (Angeline Appel), falls asleep and sleepwalks she’s “highly suggestible.”
In real life, research findings for sexsomnia first appeared in 1996 publication (The Canadian Journal of Psychiatry) by Colin Shapiro and Nik Trajanovic of the University of Toronto. As seen in the movie, polysomnography is conducted at sleep clinics while the individual being observed is asleep. Recently, a medical diagnosis of sexsomnia has been used as a criminal defense in court for alleged sexual assault and rape cases.
My Doctor: A Sleepwalker’s Nightmare premieres on Lifetime on Saturday, July 13 at 8 pm.
