The chances that Shakira will share — and help sell — your art are at least one in a million. Say you are an artist, a painter, working away your hours trying to bring your artistic vision to life. Yet no one pays attention. So you come up with the idea to paint a celebrity — someone you admire — in the hope that the celeb will be flattered and share your work with their gazillions of followers. So you paint your portrait — you make it huge so it’s hard to ignore. You want somebody like Shakira to say of your painting, “Gracias Adrián!!! Incredible!”
A celeb share like that means you gain instant recognition and a measure of global fame. Your portrait is viewed by millions. But the chances that a celebrity like Shakira or Miley Cyrus or Ice Cube or LeBron James will share your work are less one in a million. Still sometimes it happens. Roll your dice. That’s what artist Adrian Torres did, and look above how Shakira rewarded him!
And just because the chances are slim doesn’t mean the celeb share never happens. Yup, Ice Cube did the same thing (see story) for a little known artist recently too.
