Scandal star Kerry Washington is excited to be playing Helen in an episode of Norman Lear’s The Jeffersons in front of a live audience on Wednesday, May 22 at 8pm on ABC. Will Ferrell is playing her husband Tom. Washington’s movie husband Jamie Foxx (Ray) is playing George Jefferson; Wanda Skyes is playing Weezy. Washington is also excited about her new role as Mia Warren, a transient single mom in the forthcoming TV miniseries Little Fires Everywhere based on Celeste Ng’s novel of the same title.
Washington’s co-star Reese Witherspoon is playing Elena Richardson, a local newspaper journalist in the town of Shaker Heights where she rents the upstairs of her home to Mia and her daughter Pearl.
Washington and Witherspoon are executive producers of the TV mini-series Little Fires Everywhere. Washington reports that they had their first table reading and shared photos and a gif of the two movie stars dancing side-by-side and holding up their name plaques.
