In the Empire episode “Hot Blood, Hot Thoughts, Hot Deeds,” while Jamal and Kai’s relationships gets complicated and Treasure (Katlynn Simone Smith) has an embarrassing mishap on stage, Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) is launching the Empire Trust Tour in Philadelphia. To promote the tour, Cookie, Tiana and Treasure do an on-camera interview on “Angie on the Mic.” The host, Angie Martinez, listens to their new track and tells them, “I got to admit it, ladies, the song is fire.”

Angie Martinez is known as “The Voice of New York” on radio station Power 105.1. The native New Yorker from the Bronx is also a TV host and correspondent for the likes of The Talk and Extra.
