Canadian-born superstar musician Drake is known as a rapper, a child actor (Degrassi: The Next Generation) and as a big-time fan of his hometown NBA basketball team the Toronto Raptors. Drake was in his customary court-side seat when the Raptors beat the Philadelphia 76ers (108-95) in game one of their highly anticipated NBA playoff series. The 32-year-old Drake has become somewhat of an ambassador for Toronto. He tends to greet professional athletes when they arrive in town.
At the end of the Raptors game last night, Drake made sure to welcome Vladimir Guerrero, Jr., also in attendance. The 20-year-old rookie now plays third base for the Toronto Blue Jays. Guerrero made his debut on April 26, the day before the Raptors game. Guerrero’s double in the ninth inning helped the Blue Jays beat the Oakland Athletics 4-2. (Note: Guerrero was born in Montreal, Quebec but he was raised in the Dominican Republic. His father played for the Montreal Expos in the MLB.)

Check out the video of Drake — dressed in a $4000 jacket — welcoming Guerrero to Toronto after the Raptors game. Drake says he’s “hyped” and that he was watching all the highlights on TV and reiterated his hometown sports spirit by saying, “I’m excited.” Props to Marly Rivera for capturing the moment on video.
