On Season 11 of The Real Housewives of New York City, while Bethenny Frankel grieves the sudden death of her boyfriend Dennis, she also finds time to mediate the on-going fight between Luann de Lesseps and Dorinda Medley. Last season, Dorinda heckled Luann during one of her cabaret shows. When Bethenny tells Dorinda to “own up to it”, Dorinda denies that she heckled Luann. When Luann’s friend Barbara Kavovit makes her debut appearance on RHONY, she too tries to reason with Dorinda. “Stay out of it!” Dorinda yells at Barbara, to which Barbara responds in her thick New York accent, “Make me.” And you thought Dorinda didn’t back down from a fight…just wait. She brings a Leah Remini look and attitude to the show.
Bravo describes Barbara Kavovit as “a good friend of Luann’s who stood by the former countess after her relapse, [who] should fit right in as she is not afraid to speak her mind.” Barbara, who was born and raised in the Bronx, is the founder and CEO of Evergreen Construction. A woman who broke the glass ceiling in the construction business, in New York City of all places, also knows how to brand herself. Kavovit also launched a line of home improvement tools with women in mind, DIYVA, and she’s a New York Times bestselling writer. Her two non-fiction books are Invest In Your Nest (2006) and Room for Improvement (2005). Her debut novel, Heels of Steel, about a woman who breaks the glass ceiling in the world of corporate construction in Manhattan, will be released in June 2019 — see link above.
