In The Goldbergs episode “I Coulda Been a Lawyer,” while Erica (Hayley Orrantia) struggles with her career choice and Barry (Troy Gentile) panics about neglecting his college applications, Beverly (Wendi McLendon-Covey) dons a shoulder-padded power suit and heads to city hall. She’s determined to get another stop sign on their street and pleads her case to the city comptroller. Beverly’s kids are painfully aware that their mother “could’ve been a lawyer” but went to only one semester of college.
