Two familiar faces are returning for Season 9 of Love & Hip Hop New York — former rapper Joe Budden, 38, and his girlfriend Cyn Santana, 26. They last appeared together on the show in 2013 — five years ago on Season 3. A lot has happened since then. Joe has retired from the music industry and launched The Joe Budden Podcast. In August, Iman Stevenson at The New York Times called Joe Budden “The Howard Stern of Hip Hop.” And he’s becoming a dad again. Joe and Cyn are the proud parents of newborn son Lexington.

After taking a years-long break from acting and singing, Cyn feels she’s ready to get back in the studio — but VH1 hints that Joe might feel differently about her decision. Balancing a new family and diving back into work is never easy but Cyn is going to use her platform (she has 3.4 million followers on Instagram; that’s more than double what Joe Budden has) to start a conversation about the more difficult aspects of motherhood. Love & Hip Hop New York airs Mondays at 8 pm on VH1.
