On the Season 2 premiere of SEAL Team, “Fracture,” Jason Hayes (David Boreanaz) and the Bravo Team head to the Gulf of Guinea, the northeastern part of the tropical Atlantic Ocean near Nigeria in West Africa. A group of Americans working on an oil platform have been taken hostage by armed militants. In real life, 966 such pirate attacks were reported in the Gulf of Guinea in 2012. More recently, on September 22, 2018, the Swiss cargo ship MV Glarus carrying wheat was pirated; 12 crew members were taken hostage.

In the field, Mandy Ellis (Jessica Pare) works with Mexican CISEN CIA Agent Rita Alfaro. CISEN stands for the Centro de Investigación y Seguridad Nacional; it’s Mexico’s national intelligence body. Rita Alfaro is portrayed by Mirelly Taylor. The Mexican-born actress is known for her roles as Sence Soto in the Hot Bath an’ a Stiff Drink movies and as Isabella Alpert on Lost (see link above). Fun fact: She’s married to Chicago Med act Brian Tee (Dr. Ethan Choi). See cute family photo below. SEAL Team airs Wednesdays at 9pm on CBS.
