In the Modern Family episode “A Sketchy Area,” while Claire (Julie Bowen) prepares her father Jay (Ed O’Neill) for the merger of Pritchett’s Closets with a tech-savvy company, Mitch (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) makes his debut as assistant district attorney. When he presents his new high-profile case in court, Cam (Eric Stonestreet), who’s sitting right behind Mitch, notices an unflattering sketch of Mitch being made by the resident artist, Jonah. Hilarity ensues.

Courtroom sketch artist Jonah is portrayed by Dan Levy. As an actor, Levy’s known for his role as David Rose on Schitt’s Creek (see link above), the sitcom which he co-created with his comedy legend father Eugene Levy (American Pie, Best in Show). They play father and spoiled son on Schitt’s Creek. Eugene Levy’s longtime friend, Catherine O’Hara, plays the wife/mother (Home Alone, Best in Show, Waiting for Guffman).
[Catherine O’Hara is also a super-hilarious guest on Modern Family!]
Most recently, Dan Levy has written two episodes for the current season of ABC’s The Goldbergs (which airs one hour prior to Modern Family). Modern Family airs Wednesdays at 9pm on ABC, right after American Housewife, and right before the new sitcom Single Parents.
