Trial & Error is back! In Season 2, attorney Josh Segal (Nicholas D’Agosto) has another eccentric client, the First Lady of East Peck, Lavinia Peck Foster (Broadway superstar Kristin Chenoweth). She’s been charged with the murder of her husband Edgar, whose corpse was found in a suitcase in the back of her car. In addition to Lavinia, there are a number of new faces in the courtroom including Virgitte the stenographer (Lauren McGibbon)and court reporter Nina Rudolph.
Court reporter Nina Rudolph is portrayed by Amanda Payton. The Carnegie Mellon grad says her character is based on real-life journalist Sarah Koenig from the podcast Serial. Actress Payton is known for her roles on NCIS (Misty Boxlarter), Animal Kingdom (Dana), Workaholics (Megan), The Big Bang Theory (Ainsley), and The Bar (Ellie), among others.
