World of Dance is back for its sophomore season on May 29. During the first round of Qualifiers, WOD judges Jennifer Lopez, Derek Hough and NE-YO will watch in awe as 16-year-old contemporary solo dancer Jaxon Willard from American Fork, Utah gives an emotional performance. He dances to the song “Fragile” by Kygo & Labrinth. The opening lines of the song are: “Crazy to think that a man can’t hurt/ Love takes its toll every time it don’t work, yeah.” Based on the facial expressions of Jaxon during his performance on World of Dance, it appears he has had his share of hurt. American Fork, Utah isn’t just the hometown of Dancing with the Stars Mirror Ball trophy winner Witney Carson but it was also the backdrop of many scenes filmed for Footloose starring Kevin Bacon. The majority of the population (28,326) are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) and the population of African-Americans in town is 0.4 percent — that’s about 113 people.

Jaxon self-choreographed his World of Dance performance. Just like Kevin Bacon’s character in Footloose, Jaxon says he started choreographing “because I don’t really like being told what to do and how to dance.” And “No one should be told how to dance, really, because everyone moves a different way, and so it’s just fun for me to be creative and just do what I want to do.” World of Dance airs Tuesdays at 10pm on NBC, right after America’s Got Talent.
