In the Empire episode “A Lean and Hungry Look,” while Lucious (Terrence Howard) and Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) try to come up with an idea to skirt around the Empire board which is now on Eddie’s (Forest Whitaker) side, their sons continue to make music. While Hakeem (Bryshere Gray) teams up with MC/lyricist/rapper Blake (Chet Hanks, Tom Hanks‘ son), Jamal (Jussie Smollett) is listening to what Muslim rapper Preacher Azal has to say.
Preacher Azal is portrayed by Kade Wise. The Algerian-born actor is known for his roles on Lucifer (Chet Ruiz), Homeland (Hakim), and in the 2017 horror film Murder in the Woods with Danny Trejo (who plays the sheriff). Empire airs Wednesdays at 8pm on FOX, right before Star.
