The Lifetime movie The Wrong Daughter, Kate (Cindy Busby) wants to start a family with her husband Joe. While they are considering in vitro options, a young woman named Danica shows up at her door and claims to be the daughter Kate gave up for adoption 17 years ago. Kate tells her “giving you up was the hardest thing I ever had to do” and welcomes her into her home. The only problem is, Danica isn’t really Kate’s daughter. And Kate soon finds out that the young woman pretending to be her daughter is disturbed and dangerous.
Danica (er, Samantha) is portrayed by Sydney Sweeney. The 20-year-old actress is known for her roles on Netflix’s Everything Sucks! (Emaline), and huhu’s The Handmaid’s Tale (Eden, see link above). Sweeney is currently filming HBO’s Sharp Objects (based on the Gillian Flynn novel) with Oscar-nominated actress Amy Adams. Sweeney will appear next on the big screen in the film Under the Silver Lake with Andrew Garfield. The Wrong Daughter premieres on Lifetime on Sunday, May 6 at 8pm.
