In the Madam Secretary episode “Refuge,” LGBTQ citizens have been arrested in a country that made homosexuality illegal a year ago — after it gained full independence. Asylum seekers in the U.S. Embassy are saying it’s a pogrom against the LGBTQ community. Jay (Sebastian Arcelus) suggests reaching out to Brent Rose, the executive director of the Human Crisis Foundation. “He usually has solid on-the-ground intel on LGBTQ issues,” Jay says of Rosen. And he does.
