In the Law & Order: Special Victims Unit episode “In Loco Parentis,” the personal and professional life of NYPD Detective Carisi (Peter Scanavino) collide. He opens a police investigation when his college student niece Mia (Ryann Shane) claims a classmate sexually assaulted her. It’s a tough case for everyone involved including Benson (Mariska Hargitay) who warns Carisi, “Right now, your credibility is zero.” When brought on the stand to testify, Carisi is asked to tell what his 18-year-old niece told him but he has difficulty. It could ruin his career.
