The Blind Auditions continue on Season 14 of The Voice. The March 12 episode is an emotional one for judge Kelly Clarkson as she hears her song “Piece by Piece” being sung by a stranger. That stranger is Stephanie Skipper, a 33-year-old woman who grew up in Pennsylvania and now lives in Nashville. Although Kelly was moved to tears during Stephanie’s performance, she didn’t hit her buzzer and turn around. Adam Levine and Blake Shelton did. After the performance, Clarkson told Stephanie that she’s sorry she didn’t hit her buzzer. Skipper tells Kelly, “Don’t apologize, I’m on the show, girl,” which makes Clarkson get up and give Stephanie a hug.

Adam gets serious and tries to woo with Stephanie with an intelligent conversation, “You brought my attention to the really important thing, to the song, the story.” Stephanie is pleased to hear it because as she says, “My head wanted to sing it perfectly” but she allowed her inner artist — her heart — to let go and take over. Stephanie says she felt like she did a really brave thing by doing that. Blake agrees that Stephanie’s performance was brave but his plea to have her join his team wasn’t as deep as Adam’s. Adam tells Stephanie there’s no one better than him to help her “let go” on the creative side. Did she make the right choice? The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8pm on NBC.
