In the Jill and Jessa: Counting On episode “A New Bundle of Joy,” while Joe Duggar and his fiancée Kendra have a joint bachelor-bachelorette party on the lake with family and friends, Joy Duggar and her husband Austin Forsyth are in their RV coming up with a strategy. Joy is pregnant and they want to tell their families before they hear it from someone else. They decide to drive to Austin’s parents’ house, and while en route, Joy can call her parents and ask if they can meet them on the road. “Throughout the day, we’ll keep on texting, and then call the rest of the siblings,” Austin tells Joy. Joy tries to interrupt but Austin talks over her, “We gotta go hard and fast so that word doesn’t spread.”
Joy tells the Counting On cameras that it’s tradition in her family to make a baby announcement by calling a big family meeting. “I want to do something different,” says Joy. She wants to tell them individually. And for the kids, she’s decided to write the message “We’re having a baby” and stick it inside white balloons and then inflate them. When it’s time, the kids can pop the balloon and read the message. It’s a sweet idea but can Joy and Austin pull it off? Jill and Jessa: Counting On airs Mondays at 8pm on TLC. P.S. This episode is followed by the “Joy Gives Birth” episode that shows Joy going into labor with Austin by her side. Spoiler: She had a big baby boy (10lbs. 3oz.) on February 23 and named him Gideon Martyn Forsyth.
