In the MacGyver episode “Bullet + Pen,” it’s Christmas. But the team’s celebration comes to an abrupt halt when the LAPD shows up and arrests Mac (Lucas Till) for terrorism. The police found a body in a building destroyed by a bomb Mac built. The arresting officer is Detective James Greer. Fans of the original MacGyver series should recognize the man playing Greer, Bruce McGill. In the original series starring Richard Dean Anderson, McGill played Jack Dalton, the character now played by George Eads.
[McGill played D-Day in Animal House]
Bruce McGill is also known for his roles on Rizzoli & Isles (Vince Korsak), and in a variety of films including Lincoln (Edwin Stanton), Ali (Bradley), The Legend of Bagger Vance (Walter Hagen), My Cousin Vinny (Sheriff Farley), Wildcats (Dan Darwell), Silkwood (Mace Hurley), and Animal House (Daniel Simpson Day), among many others. MacGyver airs Fridays at 8pm on CBS, right before Hawaii Five-0.
[NOTE about streaming: Cable cutters can watch a live stream of any CBS show through Amazon Prime or CBS ALL-ACCESS. Both options offer free trials.]
