In the This Is Us episode “The Most Disappointed Man,” while adult Randall (Sterling K. Brown), has a conversation with his foster child’s mother in prison, child Randall is in court. His parents Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) and Rebeccca (Mandy Moore) bring the Big 3 in front of a judge to legally finalize Randall’s adoption. The judge doesn’t believe Randall belongs in their home. Rebecca strongly disagrees and makes her point loud and clear.
The This Is Us adoption judge is portrayed by Delroy Lindo. Lindo is known for his roles on The Good Fight (lawyer Adrian Boseman), Blood & Oil (Sheriff Tip Harrison), The Chicago Code (Alderman Ronin Gibbons), Kidnapped (Latimer King), and in the films Heist (Bob Blane), The Cider House Rules (Arthur Rose), Gone in Sixty Seconds (Det. Roland Castelbeck), Get Shorty (Bo Catlett — see link above), Ransom (Agent Lonnie Hawkins), and the Spike Lee films Malcolm X (West Indian Archie), Crooklyn (Woody), among others. This Is Us airs Tuesdays at 9pm on NBC, right after The Voice.
