In the Season 5 premiere of Vikings, master ship builder Floki (Gustaf Skarsgård) buries his wife Helga. During the Season 4 finale, Helga was killed by traumatized teen orphan Tanaruz (Sinead Gormally), who killed herself with the same knife she used to stabbed Helga to death. Feeling like he’s lost everything, Floki decides to do something radical with his life. According to History Channel, Floki “takes to the seas submitting himself to the will of the Gods.” Problem is, that means Ivar the Boneless (Alex Høgh Andersen) is left to his own devices. Even though Ivar tells Floki upfront “I don’t want you to go,” Floki does leave saying, “With Helga gone, there’s nothing left for me here. This world no longer interests me.”
[Check out Hirst as Lady in Waiting Kat on The Tudors]
Helga was portrayed by Maude Hirst. Prior to Vikings, the 24-year-old English actress portrayed Elizabeth’s Lady in Waiting, Kat Ashley, on The Tudors (see link/image above). Fun fact: Maude is the daughter of Vikings writer/producer Michael Hirst, and sister of Georgia Hirst who plays Torvi on Vikings. See sneak peek below. Since the finale of Season 4 of Vikings, Hirst has been enjoying life traveling and spending time with friends including Dancing with the Stars‘ Julianne Hough. Hirst stood by her side when she got married this summer. Cute photos below. Hirst is also co-founder of Tuppence Films. Vikings airs Wednesdays at 9pm on History Channel.
