In the Season 3 premiere episode of Mr. Robot, a car salesman named Irving (Bobby Cannavale) has Elliot (Rami Malek) in hiding. He’s taking orders from Whiterose who’s at the E Corp nuclear power plant. Whiterose explains that Elliot’s father used to work for him “unbeknownst to him of course” and ponders at the “coincidence” of now having Elliot working for him. Weeks before the episode airs, B.D. Wong — who plays the transgender Whiterose — posted a photo with the Groucho Marx quote: “Don’t let the fear of the thorn keep you from the rose” (see below).
