In the Season 2 premiere episode of Star, “The Winner Takes It All”, Star (Jude Demorest) tries to reassure the girls that their album is still a go while their manager Carlotta (Queen Latifah) has an awkward conversation with the new president of the girls’ record label, Ayanna Floyd. But that’s not all! Carlotta also seeks the advice of singer Jamal Lyon (the character from Empire, played by Jussie Smollett).
Ayanna Floyd is portrayed by Michael Michelle. She’s known for her roles on Gossip Girl (Jane), House (Dr. Samira Terzi), ER (Cleo Finch, Eriq La Salle’s girlfriend), Homicide: Life on the Street (Rene Sheppard), C.P.W. (Nikki Sheridan), New York Undercover (Sandra), and Dangerous Curves (Holly Williams), among others. Michelle is also recognized for her roles in the films How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days (Judy Spears), Ali (Veronica Porche), and New Jack City (Selina). Star airs Wednesdays at 9pm on FOX, right after Empire.
