The Season 5 premiere episode of Ray Donovan opens with Ray (Liev Schreiber) meeting with his court-appointed anger management counselor after sending his father and brother to the hospital last season. After the first session, Ray meets a powerful new client named Samantha “Sam” Winslow. She’s portrayed by Academy Award-winning actress Susan Sarandon, 70, who wears her signature wavy/curly hair straight for the Hollywood executive character.

As Winslow, Sarandon stands in front of a stuffed lion — serious taxidermy, not a cuddly thing from Disney’s Lion King — and tells Ray a story about her husband, a lion hunter, and a village in Africa where they push the elderly toward the hungry lion. The moral of the story, Winslow tells Ray is, “Don’t get pushed out.” Ray Donovan airs Sundays at 9pm on Showtime.
