On the Bar Rescue episode “Mother Doesn’t Know Best,” Jon Taffer travels to Las Vegas to meet with Corinne Vaughn, mother of four and owner of Jack’s Place, a struggling dive bar that’s been around since 1980. With the neighborhood bar owing more than $500,000 in debt, Corinne called Taffer for help. While Corinne thinks it’s cute that several employees and clients call her Mom, Taffer does not. The managers of Jack’s Place agree with Taffer. They say Corinne is “a softie” and that she doesn’t discipline the bartenders. Corinne admits, “I hate confrontations.” And she hasn’t taken a paycheck for seven years.
There’s one male bartender in particular who rubs everyone the wrong way (except Corinne). When he complains about the manager “barking” orders to him, Jon Taffer steps in and calls him a prick. Bar Rescue airs Sundays at 10pm on Spike.
