In the Brooklyn Nine-Nine episode ‘Your Honor’, while Detectives Terry (Terry Crews), Rosa (Stephanie Beatriz) and Boyle (Joe Lo Truglio) work on the break room, Captain Holt (Andre Braugher) gets a visit from his mother Laverne who wants help from the precinct after her house is robbed.
Laverne Holt is portrayed by L. Scott Caldwell. She’s known for her roles on the TV shows Mercy Street (Belinda), How to Get Away with Murder (Jasmine), The Secret Life of the American Teenager (Margaret Shakur), Southland (Enid Adams), Lost (Rose Nadler), and Judging Amy (Tanya Miller), among others. Caldwell won a Tony Award in 1988 for her lead role in August Wilson’s “Joe Turner’s Come & Gone.” Brooklyn Nine-Nine airs Tuesdays at 8pm on FOX.
