Singer/songwriter Chris Stapleton let Jesse Larson sing his rock ballad “I Was Wrong” during the live semi-final round on The Voice, Season 12. Jesse did the song justice with both his voice and guitar. Did we say he did it justice? More like Jesse blew the house down with “I Was Wrong” — TVs were reportedly shaking on walls all over the country. It was the perfect song for Adam Levine’s one and only contestant on the Top 8. After the performance, Levine said: “My belief in Jesse is so real. I was the only one who turned around for this guy. I genuinely believe he is the best we got.” Levine promises (to America) if Jesse makes it to the finals, “We will blow your minds.”

Adam was prepared to praise even before Jesse threw down on stage. Just before he went on, Adam described Jesse as “one of the most talented dudes I know.” For Adam, who has worked with everybody in the business and who is usually pretty careful with his words, that is some very full praise. Jesse, as the late great Prince knew, is a phenomenon. The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8pm on NBC.
