In the first decade of the 2000s, Tinsley Mortimer was considered the “It” girl in Manhattan. In 2002, she married Robert “Topper” Livingston Mortimer, her fellow classmate at the Lawrenceville School, the prestigious prep school in New Jersey. After high school, both Tinsley and Topper went to college in Manhattan (Tinsley at Columbia; Topper at NYU). Tinsley went on to work for a public relations firm, Topper at Guggenheim Partners. They were both 26 on their wedding day.

Tinsley and Topper separated in 2009 and eventually divorced. (They remain close friends, according to Tinsley’s social media accounts.) Topper Mortimer, the great-grandson of Standard Oil president Henry Morgan Tilford, is a private man. He’s reportedly dating shoe designer Tabitha Simmons. Topper’s sister Minnie Mortimer is also a fashion designer and wife of Oscar-winning filmmaker Stephen Gaghan (Syrianna). Their parents are Senga Mortimer, former editor at House Beautiful magazine, and John Jay Mortimer, a direct descendant of the first Chief Justice of the United States, John Jay. Real Housewives of New York City airs Wednesdays at 9pm on Bravo.
