In the timely new drama Shots Fired, an unarmed white teenager is fatally shot by a black police officer in a small town in North Carolina. In a press conference, Governor Patricia Eamons (Helen Hunt) tells the public that she contacted the Justice Department to launch an investigation. While social unrest begins to percolate, the governor — who is hoping to be re-elected — turns to successful, powerful businessman Arlen Cox for help.
