Season 3 of American Crime is set in Alamance County, North Carolina, where undocumented workers look for work. What they discover is “modern servitude” – their meager salaries quickly disappear as employers charge workers exorbitant rates for shelter, food and other essentials. One of the struggling family-owned tomato farms is owned by the Hesbys.
