The Last Man on Earth episode ‘Got Milk?’ is to give a hint to how the viral outbreak that took out most of mankind began. There aren’t just seven people left on earth. The eighth is portrayed by guest star Kristen Wiig (Ghostbusters, Bridesmaids). It appears that she’s been wrapped in garbage bags and pushing a shopping cart for quite some time so when she realizes she’s free to take off her protective gear, she likes what she sees in the mirror and celebrates by lip syncing the 1982 hit song “Gloria” by Laura Branigan, former backup singer for Leonard Cohen. Wiig is, as usual, awesome.
The song “Gloria”, written by Umberto Tozzi, became Branigan’s signature song and earned her a Grammy nomination. Sadly, Branigan died at the age of 47 in 2004 from a brain aneurysm. The Last Man on Earth airs Sundays at 9:30 PM on FOX.
