In the Life in Pieces episode ‘Facebook Fish Planner Backstage’, while Tim (Dan Bakkedahl) takes his daughter Samantha (Holly J. Barrett) to the Grammy Awards thanks to patient, singer Charlie Puth, Matt (Thomas Sadoski) and Colleen (Angelique Cabral) meet with their wedding planner Ned Gawler. Ned is portrayed by real-life Grammy Award winning musician Lyle Lovett (Best Male Country Vocal Performance, 1989).

This isn’t Lovett’s first time on TV. He’s known for his roles on FX’s The Bridge (Monte P. Flagman), Castle (Agent Westfield), and Mad About You (Lenny), among others. Lovett is also recognized for his roles in the Robert Altman films Short Cuts and The Player with Tim Robbins. On the set of The Player, Lovett met his future wife, actress Julia Roberts. (They divorced amicably after two years of marriage, in 1995.) Life in Pieces airs Thursdays at 9:30pm on CBS.
