To tell the rags-to-riches story of the all-boy R&B band New Edition is going to take three nights on BET. The three-part min-series New Edition: The Movie will reveal how the lives of five kids from the projects in Roxbury, Massachusetts changed when they hit it big with their 1983 album, “Candy Girl.”
The lead singer of New Edition, Bobby Brown, is portrayed by Woody McClain aka Woody the Great. He will appear next in the CBS TV series Training Day (Raww Dogg) based on the 2001 film starring Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke. (On the TV show, Bill Paxton plays the veteran detective; Justin Cornwell plays the rookie cop. New Edition: The Movie, Part I airs Tuesday, January 24 at 9pm on BET.
