Triple threat Cher will star in the Lifetime TV movie Flint, about the drinking water contamination crisis in Flint, Michigan which started in 2014. The Oscar-winning actress (Silkwood, Moonstruck) will play a woman whose family is been affected by the contaminated water. Cher and TV news anchor Katie Couric are two of the executive producers on the project. Bruce Beresford (Driving Miss Daisy) will direct. The Lifetime TV movie Flint is inspired by Josh Sanburn’s cover story for Time magazine, “The Toxic Tap.”
In January 2016, Cher had more than 180,000 bottles of water sent to a food bank in Flint. She said at the time: “This is a tragedy of staggering proportion and shocking that it’s happening in the middle of our country.”
