Before Garth Brooks appears on The Voice, Season 11 to help coach the teams led by Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, Alicia Keys and Miley Cyrus, Brooks nailed down his seventh Diamond Award. While on tour, in Richmond, Virginia, Brooks’ wife Trisha Yearwood interrupted the show to tell everyone the good news. “Because you won’t talk about it yourself,” she said to her husband. Yearwood explained the significance of the Diamond Award which is given to an artist if an album sells 10 million copies. Yearwood tells the Richmond crowd: “And no one in the history of music, in any format, has ever ever gotten seven Diamond Awards until now.”

Her congratulatory speech was followed by a release of 7,777 balloons above the crowd. Yearwood told the audience to “take one home with ya, they say Entertainer of the Year on them. They say Seven Diamonds.” P.S. Brooks also was just named CMA Entertainer of the Year, for the fifth time. The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8pm on NBC.
