In the Elementary episode ‘Folie a Deux’, Holmes (Jonny Lee Miller) and Watson (Lucy Liu) help the NYPD search for a serial bomber who’s resurfaced after six years. During the investigation, Watson runs into a former patient (and ex-con) Shinwell Johnson at a boxing gym.
Shinwell Johnson is portrayed by Nelsan Ellis. The Julliard grad is known for his roles on True Blood (Lafayette Reynolds) and in the films Lee Daniels’ The Butler (Martin Luther King Jr.), The Help (Henry the Waiter), Secretariat (Eddie Sweat), and the 2009 biopic The Soloist with Jamie Foxx and Robert Downey, Jr. (as David Carter). Elementary airs Sundays at 10pm on CBS.
