In the Elementary episode ‘Worth Several Cities,’ when Sherlock Holmes (Jonny Lee Miller) is abducted by a gang and forced to find one of their rivals he ends up searching for “a priceless, centuries-old artifact.” The investigation has Holmes turning for help to his pen pal C. who works in antiquities. Last time we saw C. was in 2014 when Holmes and Joan Watson (Lucy Liu) investigated a murder connected to a rare prehistoric fossil.
C. is Jane Alexander. She is known for her TV roles on The Good Wife (Judge Suzanne Morris), The Blacklist (Diane Fowler), and Tell Me You Love Me (Dr. May Foster). The Tony Award winner, two-time Emmy Award winner and four-time Oscar nominee is also recognized for her roles in the films Terminator Salvation (Virginia), The Ring (Dr. Grasnik), The Cider House Rules (Nurse Edna), Kramer vs. Kramer (Margaret Phelps), and All the President’s Men (Bookkeeper), among others. Alexander was also appointed by President Bill Clinton as the Chairperson of the National Endowment for the Arts (1993-1997). Elementary airs Sundays at 10pm on CBS.
