The new legal drama Conviction is about former First Daughter Hayes Morrison (Hayley Atwell). When caught in a sex scandal involving cocaine possession, the rebellious Hayes is offered a deal by the New York District Attorney Conner Wallace (Eddie Cahill). He blackmails Hayes into running his new Criminal Integrity Unit, which reexamines the cases of innocent people in jail. Hayes hates the job at first but, with the encouragement of her mother Harper who’s running for a seat in the Senate, she learns to love it.
Former FLOTUS Harper is portrayed by Bess Armstrong. She’s known for her roles on Zoo (Dr. Elizabeth Oz), Switched at Birth (Professor Beth Marillo), House of Lies (Julianne Hotschragar), One Tree Hill (Lydia James), and My So-Called Life with Claire Danes (Patty Chase), among many others. Conviction airs Mondays at 10pm on ABC.
