Ryan Lochte has proved two things during his memorable, unfortunately troubled stint on Dancing With the Stars. First, Lochte is hella resilient and he’ll keep putting himself in front of the camera as long as it’s turned on. Second, the first dance at his wedding will be much better than it could have been, but still a little awkward. (Lochte is not exactly wowing the DWTS judges with his gracefulness.) Wait, Lochte’s wedding you say? Yes, the suspended Olympic swimming star announced on Instagram that he proposed (successfully) to former Playboy model Kayla Rae Reid.

Lochte admitted his family thinks he might be acting rashly, since he met Reid in January and so much else has been happening — good and bad — in his life. But USA Today reports that Lochte has a retort for doubters: “I’m like, ‘Can you put a time on love? Can you?'” For a guy who has spent his entire life trying to shave tenths of a second off 200 meters, disrespecting time like that is quite a statement.
