On The Profit, Marcus Lemonis makes a handshake deal with Max Kater, co-founder of Murchison-Hume, an upscale, eco-friendly cleaning product company based in Los Angeles. He offers $250,000 for 30 percent of the company. After learning that the company lost $477,000 last year, Lemonis believes Kater is “slightly delusional” about the company and its worth. “She’s more interested in her image than fixing the problems,” says Lemonis.
To help break Kater out of her bubble, Lemonis introduces her to Kathy Ireland, former supermodel turned millionaire businesswoman. Ireland agrees with Lemonis’ assessment of Kater. Over lunch, Ireland tells Kater: “My hope for you, is throw away the facade.” The Profit airs Tuesdays at 10pm on CNBC.
