On the second season premiere of the medical drama Code Black, a Colonel from the Department of Defense joins the team at Angels Memorial. His job is to teach the staff new medical techniques. The colonel, Ethan Willis, is portrayed by former Brat Pack actor Rob Lowe. In the season opener, Colonel Willis brings Dr. Mike Leighton (Tommy Dewey) on a harrowing helicopter ride in order to reach victims of shark attack on a Malibu beach.

On CBS This Morning, the 52-year-old Lowe said that when he was approached for the role he told the Code Black TV executives, “Only if I get to jump out of a helicopter into the Pacific Ocean. And they said, Fine!” Code Black airs Wednesdays at 10pm on CBS.
